Introducing, Georgina!

The lovely Georgina came to me with a very strong idea of what she wanted, which is perfect for me!

Her wedding was only a matter of months away so this was a much quicker turn around for me. (Creating a custom look can take many months!) But after looking at her ideas, I knew it was something I could do in the timeframe. With some late nights and some speedy sewing on the horizon, I got to work.

Georgina wanted clean lines and simplicity. We talked a lot about trims and details to add to the cuff and waist area so we played about with the fabric samples laying things on the chosen crepe back satin on my table. We landed on adding a statement belt in the same fabric, which would be a subtle and modern feature of the gown.

What I, as the maker, love about Georgina's bespoke gown.

The timeless elegance that Georgina carries in herself was reflected in her gown. That is my favourite part of creating custom pieces. Being able to mirror the brides personality and character in the choice of fabrics or silhouette, is always a really special part of the journey. We toyed with the idea of a pleated or gathered skirt into waistband, but opted for a flat 'circle skirt' shape in order to keep that clean feel overall.

Have a look at the original sketch I did for Georgina. I like to keep the drawings super simple without all the decoratives, in order to make the shape and details clear for the bride. You can see here there is't a belt in the drawing, that's because we added it later. Nothing is set in stone! we can rejig the ideas up until the very end... The beauty of desinging your own style!
